Acharya Rudraya (Silver Ra Baker)

Rudraya cropSwami Rudrananda (Rudi) initiated and activated my inner life in 1971 in Texas, which began my lifelong search for spiritual meaning and purpose. I was made a teacher by Rudi in 1972. Since then I have dedicated myself to the building of Rudi’s Ashram in Texas and I inherited the Rudra Center from Stuart Perrin in 1978. At that time I immediately began to incorporate other spiritual approaches to the Center’s format of studies and training, since Rudi often spoke to me about building a "Spiritual University." This opened me up to honor all ways that lead to the spirit. These included studies in North, Central and South American shamanism, Aikido, Transformative Breath Work, herbal studies of health, forms of NLP change work, Spiritual Clearance & De-armoring, along with Elemental Purification Practices. My overall approach to self-growth and spiritual development is "The Way of the Disentangled Adventurer."

I am also the principal architect and builder of the Rudra Mandala and the Stupa of Intrinsic Transformation in Big Indian, New York, Rudi’s old Country Ashram, where Rudi asked for his resting place to be. A beautiful Samadhi Shrine currently exists there today in that honoring.

After teaching Rudi's Work for over forty years at the Rudra Center for Enlightened Awareness in Denton, Texas, I realize that I haven't 'arrived' and desire to remain teachable. I decided to join Nathaji's practice and become a teacher in his organization both to deepen my own sadhana and to better serve my students. I was initiated as an Acharya in Swami Khecaranatha's lineage, in a ceremony in Ganeshpuri, India, in January, 11, 2020. Because of his dedication, high level of integrity, and artistic originality, taking initiation with Nathaji was, and is, the right movement for my forward and upward spiritual development.

Acharya Shankara (Ross DeOtte)

ceremony head shotShankara was initiated as a “putraka” (acharya in training) by Swami Khecaranatha, in a ceremony in Ganeshpuri, India, on January 11, 2020.

In 2016, I was graced with a living teacher, Silver Ra (now Acharya Rudraya), a Spiritual Child of Swami Rudrananda. I continue to live and study with Rudraya at the Rudra Center. I am grateful for Rudraya and his continued efforts to make God’s Grace available in my life. While my relationship with him is wholly unique, he has been the embodiment of “The Guru,” the awakened rays of consciousness, for me in this lifetime, without question.

I am grateful for God’s open heart that lives in me, the empowerment of internalizing all of Life’s energies, and this celebration of Life I am living. This practice, Kundalini Sadhana, or “Rudi’s Work,” has been the foundation for discovering and experiencing myself in this way. It’s continual benefits in my life are my inspiration to continue to practice and teach. My guiding principle is: “God is One, Without a second.”

I am humbled and grateful to have been asked to be initiated as a teacher under Swami Khecaranatha (Nathaji) at the invitation of Rudraya. Nathaji has beautifully created a form to carry on our lineage, I deeply respect him and am proud to be a part of what he is doing.
